    Description

    Black Stage Curtain/Backdrop 8 H x 15 W, 20% OFF (horizontal & vertical seams)
**not the size you want?  send us an email, we can make any size**
This is a made to order 600x300D PVC Backed Polyester Stage Curtain. 8 ft high x 15 ft wide. Color: Black.
What makes this different from our standard polyester curtains is that parts of this curtain are constructed from smaller pieces of fabric that are sewn together; thus there will be some horizontal seams as well as the normal vertical seams that are in our standard curtains. Because of this, there may be minor shade differences between stitched panels in this curtain. This is an ideal purchase for someone who only needs the functionality of these curtains/dividers without necessarily needing the best possible appearance. Excellent for creating a physical backdrop or partition for heat, wind, visual blocking, or light blocking... but not particularly good for aesthetic appearance or an "elegant" draping look intended for an audience. Thus, we are offering this curtain at a 20% discount from our normal price! (A standard 8'H x 15'W curtain with no horizontal seams goes for 0).
Weight of this curtain: approx. 14 lbs.
Grommets every 12" on the top.
Made from 600x300D PVC Backed Polyester. This is the same material used on back packs, etc.
Black 2" wide webbing is on the hem on all 4 sides.
Custom work is our specialty, so let us know exactly what you need. You can't beat this price.
SHIPPING: FREE anywhere in 48 States. Surcharge for Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Worldwide shipping OK, cost based on location.
Please note that photos above are stock photos of a similar but different size curtain with horizontal and vertical seams. You will receive the curtain size as described in this listing.
NOTE: This is a made-to-order item,
    NOT an item in stock
    .
We require at least 5 business days for manufacturing (this is a longer lead-time than our standard polyester curtains, due to the additional labor involved).
Please be assured that your item will ship out as soon as it is fabricated. You will receive a tracking number by e-mail on the day of shipment.
This curtain is NOT fire retardant. Please see our other listings for FR curtains.

    Curtain FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions for our Industrial Grade 12.5 oz Polyester Curtains
    Q.
So, in general, what material are your curtains made from?
    A.
These curtains are made from our most popular material, which is our 12.5 oz. economical 300x600 black polyester with PVC backing. It is a heavy duty material (make sure to compare that 12.5 oz number to other curtains advertised!). It can best be described as similar to a heavy duty nylon used for things like grill covers, back packs, ski bags, etc. It is an amazing value for the price (check our feedback!). It is non-FR; see our other listings for certified fire retardant curtains which are made from an even heavier and thicker material.
    Q.
Is this polyester material 100% light blocking?
    A.
Yes, 300x600D PVC-Backed Polyester is 100% light-blocking material, ideal for use as backdrops or photography applications to block 100% of undesired light from either direction.
    Q.
Will this polyester material provide sound blocking / acoustical insulation?
    A.
Although most often not purchased for this reason, the same feature of 100% light blocking above certainly contributes to some degree of sound deflection and dampening. We stress it is not as effective, however, as a heavily insulated sound curtain designed specifically for that purpose.
    Q.
Will this polyester material provide good heat insulation?
    A.
Actually, many customers do purchase these curtains for warehouses, barns, garages, etc. to create a very cost effective temporary barrier for the colder months. Although not a solution with a high R‑value, feedback has been good as a quick alternative to a constructed insulated wall.
    Q.
How does this material hold up to moisture / water?
    A.
The material is indeed 100% waterproof and splash-proof. It does not absorb water, but sheds it off.
    Q.
Is this material fire / flame retardant?
    A.
Although there are some flame retardant properties for this polyester, it is not a certified Fire Retardant material, and does not meet the NFPA 701 standard. (Please see our other listings for Fire Retardant curtains made of 16 oz Black Commando Cloth). It may be possible to apply a fire retardant spray in the field to the material according to some FR treatment companies, but we have not tested such, and if your application requires flame retardancy you really should go with our FR curtains. Please check with your local fire marshall, and safety should take priority for all applications.
    Q.
I don't see the exact size I want; can you make my size?
    A.
We can make your curtain to any custom size. Although we list a number of popular sizes, all curtains are in fact made-to-order. If you want a size that is not available in our listings, simply e-mail us with a request for a custom size, and we will quote you a price.
    Note:
We do pride ourselves on some pretty decent craftsmanship in our USA manufacturing facility, but please understand in the world of industrial sewing and seam allowances we deal in whole inch increments and in general your finished product will be within +/- 1/2" of your requested size.
    Q.
How much do these curtains weigh?
    A.
Each individual curtain listing has the weight of that curtain mentioned in the main description area. However, to calculate the price of any Polyester curtain (useful to know if you want to calculate the weight of a custom size), simply multiply the height by the width to get the square footage, then multiply the square footage by 0.115. This will give you an estimated curtain weight in pounds. For example, our popular 9 x 20 size = 180 sq ft
    x
    0.115 = 20.7 lbs.
    Q.
How are the curtains hemmed, and what is webbing?
    A.
Our standard (non-Economy) curtains come standard with a 2” wide black webbing around the entire perimeter of the curtain. Webbing is a strong, seatbelt-like material that is stitched to the edges… giving the curtain a definitive, finished look… as well as strengthening the edges to ensure durability and tear resistance. If you like, you can custom-order a curtain with no webbing and a standard folded-over, double-stitched hem, for a slightly lower price and simpler tailored look. (In fact, our 4½’ wide Economy Curtain/Panels have a standard hem with no webbing.)
    Q.
Is this a soft velour type of material ideal for "draping"?
    A.
While a moderate draping effect can be achieved by ordering the curtain oversized, the PVC-Backed Polyester is a stiffer material than velour or similar material. This is an industrial curtain material – it is best used as a flat backdrop or room divider meaning we suggest ordering the size of your opening. Our FR rated curtains, however, are indeed a much softer material, in addition to being even 1/3 heavier, and are ideal for oversizing and pleating, including fixed sewn-in pleats.
    Q.
Can you make a valence out of this polyester material?
    A.
We can, yet the same non-draping factors come into play as mentioned above. For the curtain sizes we make most often, a typical valence size that would make sense might be 18" to 36" in height, at your desired overall width.
    Q.
How should I hang these curtains?
    A.
Our curtains come standard with #3 Black Grommets (7/16” diameter hole) placed every 1 ft across the top of the curtain (or at an equal distance less than 12"). This allows you to hang the curtain from a simple pole, or cable, using hooks or standard shower-curtain rings. You can also hang from a more elaborate tracking system using an extruded aluminum track with rollers. At this time, though, we do not supply such a curtain track (google "curtain track"). For an up-charge, we can sew black fabric loops in place of the grommets which eliminates the need for the rings/hooks.
