Para tomas decisiones o mantener determinada conducta, los creyentes se valen de la interpretación de diversos mitos, leyendas, proverbios y sentencias que acompañan a cada deidad y celebran diversos ritos para lograr la armonía y de conquistar la voluntad del objeto de devoción.
Los oráculos propios de la Regla de Ocha o santería ayudan a consultar problemas de la vida diaria, como por ejemplo: la pérdida del trabajo, trastornos en la salud, conflictos matrimoniales o amores imposibles, muertos que nos acompañan y no nos dejan vivir en paz por una mala jugada del destino. Todos estos sistemas de adivinación nos dirán las formas de evitarlos o superarlos, de acercarlos o desprendernos de ellos.
