    Description

    Lot of (4) Economy Burgundy Curtain Panel/Partition 8 H x 4½ W (8 H x 18 W total)
New from Peaks Tarps Company, for our growing industrial partition and curtain business, are these Economy Curtain
Panels which use the same material as our standard stage curtains. This material is industrial grade 300 x 600
PVC Backed Polyester, 12.5 oz per square yard. It’s waterproof, light blocking, and has great color consistency. This
is an industrial quality material – it is not a super soft velour type of draping curtain.
Weight of each curtain: approx. 4 lbs. Total weight: approx. 16½ lbs.
What is different about these economy curtains is that, to save cost and time, the width of these panels are
available only at 4’6” wide, which essentially is the width of the material as it comes off the rolls here in our
factory. So, there is reduced cutting, and there are no seams in the panel at all. Also, the edges have a standard
folded-over and double-stitched hem on all 4 sides (no webbing to further reduce costs and simplify the product). The
top edge will have grommets evenly spaced at approximately 10”.
See our other listings for other sizes and quantities.

    Curtain FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions for our Industrial Grade 12.5 oz Polyester Curtains
    Q.
So, in general, what material are your curtains made from?
    A.
These curtains are made from our most popular material, which is our 12.5 oz. economical 300x600 polyester with PVC backing. It is a heavy duty material (make sure to compare that 12.5 oz number to other curtains advertised!). It can best be described as similar to a heavy duty nylon used for things like grill covers, back packs, ski bags, etc. It is an amazing value for the price (check our feedback!). It is non-FR; see our other listings for certified fire retardant curtains which are made from an even heavier and thicker material.
    Q.
Is this polyester material 100% light blocking?
    A.
Although our Black 300x600D PVC-Backed Polyester is 100% light-blocking, the lighter shades will have less opacity than the Black. Generally, the darker the color is, the more opacity the curtain will have. Black has 100% opacity; medium shades such as Royal Blue, Hunter Green, Burgundy, Mandarin Orange, or Red will have roughly 85% opacity; and light shades such as Tan and Silver will have roughly 65% opacity.
    Q.
Will this polyester material provide sound blocking / acoustical insulation?
    A.
Although most often not purchased for this reason, the same feature of 100% light blocking above certainly contributes to some degree of sound deflection and dampening. We stress it is not as effective, however, as a heavily insulated sound curtain designed specifically for that purpose.
    Q.
Will this polyester material provide good heat insulation?
    A.
Actually, many customers do purchase these curtains for warehouses, barns, garages, etc. to create a very cost effective temporary barrier for the colder months. Although not a solution with a high R‑value, feedback has been good as a quick alternative to a constructed insulated wall.
    Q.
How does this material hold up to moisture / water?
    A.
The material is indeed 100% waterproof and splash-proof. It does not absorb water, but sheds it off.
    Q.
Is this material fire / flame retardant?
    A.
Although there are some flame retardant properties for this polyester, it is not a certified Fire Retardant material, and does not meet the NFPA 701 standard. (Please see our other listings for Fire Retardant curtains made of 16 oz Black Commando Cloth). It may be possible to apply a fire retardant spray in the field to the material according to some FR treatment companies, but we have not tested such, and if your application requires flame retardancy you really should go with our FR curtains. Please check with your local fire marshall, and safety should take priority for all applications.
    Q.
I don't see the exact size I want; can you make my size?
    A.
We can make your curtain to any custom size. Although we list a number of popular sizes, all curtains are in fact made-to-order. If you want a size that is not available in our listings, simply e-mail us with a request for a custom size, and we will quote you a price.
    Note:
We do pride ourselves on some pretty decent craftsmanship in our USA manufacturing facility, but please understand in the world of industrial sewing and seam allowances we deal in whole inch increments and in general your finished product will be within +/- 1/2" of your requested size.
    Q.
How much do these curtains weigh?
    A.
Each individual curtain listing has the weight of that curtain mentioned in the main description area. However, to calculate the price of any Polyester curtain (useful to know if you want to calculate the weight of a custom size), simply multiply the height by the width to get the square footage, then multiply the square footage by 0.115. This will give you an estimated curtain weight in pounds. For example, our popular 9 x 20 size = 180 sq ft
    x
    0.115 = 20.7 lbs.
    Q.
How are the curtains hemmed, and what is webbing?
    A.
Our standard (non-Economy) curtains come standard with a 2” wide black webbing around the entire perimeter of the curtain. Webbing is a strong, seatbelt-like material that is stitched to the edges… giving the curtain a definitive, finished look… as well as strengthening the edges to ensure durability and tear resistance. If you like, you can custom-order a curtain with no webbing and a standard folded-over, double-stitched hem, for a slightly lower price and simpler tailored look. (In fact, our 4½’ wide Economy Curtain/Panels have a standard hem with no webbing.)
    Q.
Is this a soft velour type of material ideal for "draping"?
    A.
While a moderate draping effect can be achieved by ordering the curtain oversized, the PVC-Backed Polyester is a stiffer material than velour or similar material. This is an industrial curtain material – it is best used as a flat backdrop or room divider meaning we suggest ordering the size of your opening. Our FR rated curtains, however, are indeed a much softer material, in addition to being even 1/3 heavier, and are ideal for oversizing and pleating, including fixed sewn-in pleats.
    Q.
Can you make a valence out of this polyester material?
    A.
We can, yet the same non-draping factors come into play as mentioned above. For the curtain sizes we make most often, a typical valence size that would make sense might be 18" to 36" in height, at your desired overall width.
    Q.
How should I hang these curtains?
    A.
Our curtains come standard with #3 Black Grommets (7/16” diameter hole) placed every 12" across the top of the curtain (or at an equal distance less than 12"). This allows you to hang the curtain from a simple pole or cable, using hooks or standard shower-curtain rings. For an up-charge, we can sew black fabric loops in place of the grommets, which eliminates the need for the rings/hooks.
