    Description

    This  4 inches tall with a base diameter of 4  3/8 inches.  It has no chips, cracks or hairlines. The image is of   THE WORKMAN the store name for the Rawlinson Company.  The bottom shows that this was Made in Germany for this store and was probably given out to better customers for the Store's Grand Opening.   This a larger than normal piece of Historical Souvenir China.   Started in 1735 in the Naugatuck River Valley as Wolcottville it got its new  name for the Brass Mills in town in the 1870's. In 1857 Gail Borden opened his FIRST Condensed Milk Factory. Borden's Condensed Milk was a world wide important invention. Later he opened his First factory in the west in our town of Elgin, Illinois. His 3rd wife is buried here. Torrington is the birthplace  to Abolitionist  John Brown, NBC Exec Dick Ebersol & L. C. Smith of typewriter manufacturing fame. Torrington is in Litchfield County.
