    Camp Tyson, located; in the beautiful Tennessee River basin of Western Tennessee, is the only Barrage Balloon Training Center .in the United States Army. It was named for the late Brigadier General Lawrence Davis Tyson, Tennessee soldier, statesman, educator and patriot. Under the command of Brigadier General John B. Maynard, Camp Tyson is turning out its quota of officers and enlisted men, trained for Barrage Balloon Service of the Coast Artillery Corps. Just a year old it is one of the specialized camps that are helping to supply the necessary military personnel demanded by this critical period of American history.
