Ananya Panday on deepfake videos: Government regulations the only solution

Actor Ananya Panday will soon be seen in a film where artificial intelligence (AI) will play a pivotal role. Ananya spoke about AI’s misuse and said that only government regulations can bring about the much-needed change where deepfake videos are concerned.
Speaking to PTI, Ananya said, “It’s very scary. As public figures, our faces and voices are out there. (So) I don’t know how much we can safeguard. I think it will have to come from regulations by the government. That’s probably the only solution.”
Ananya is not the only one, other top stars such as Aamir Khan and Rashmika Mandanna have also fallen prey to deepfake and have openly spoken about the same.
Deepfakes blur the line between reality and illusion, creating lifelike videos that can mislead and manipulate. As technology advances, the challenge of distinguishing truth from deception grows ever more complex.
Meanwhile, Ananya’s film, CTRL, will start streaming on Netflix from October 4. It has been directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.
